We are a husband-wife duo and parents to Mr. Tumnus and Ernie, our beloved rescue cats.

Who we are

As longtime cat owners, we found ourselves constantly worried that our indoor cats weren't getting enough stimulation. But as apartment dwellers, we had no way of giving our boys an outdoor sanctuary, so we built our first DIY version of what would become The Purrgola

A man and woman sitting on porch steps, smiling and embracing, with a blue door in the background.
Two cats in a kitchen; one tabby cat lounging on a mushroom-shaped cat scratcher, and one orange tabby cat sitting on the decorative patterned floor.

The Beginning

Our first version was a simple box design made from wood and mesh window screen. It attached to the exterior of our office window so the boys could hang out with us out there during the work day.

From the moment we installed our DIY version, they spent every second they could out there spotting birds, smelling our garden, and catching some afternoon sun rays.

From Day 1, Tummy and Ernie were OBSESSED.

Friends and family started asking for their own

We knew tons of house cats could benefit from this innovative concept. So we got to work developing prototype after prototype.

Sketch of an adjustable rectangular box with annotations. It features slotted grooves for acrylic sheets on various sides, adjustable end pieces, and optional dowels or surfaces for width variations. Includes notes on using cloth or snap closures.

Finally, we landed on a winner.

We are thrilled to be able to share The Purrgola with all of you, and hope to improve the lives of every cat it sees.
